Universities:

Workshop 1: “Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship”

Objective: To explore the principles of sustainable development, global citizenship, and their relevance in the modern world.

Activities:

  • Keynote Address: Start with a keynote speaker who is an expert in sustainable development, providing an overview of its principles, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Interactive Case Studies: Present real-world case studies highlighting successful sustainable development projects from various regions. Encourage critical thinking and discussion.
  • Role-Playing Simulation: Divide participants into groups representing different stakeholders (e.g., government, NGOs, businesses) and engage them in a simulation of a sustainable development negotiation.
  • Panel Discussion: Invite a panel of experts from various sectors (e.g., academia, industry, NGOs) to discuss the role of different stakeholders in achieving sustainable development.
  • Action Planning: Facilitate a session where participants brainstorm and develop action plans for incorporating sustainable development principles into their academic and professional pursuits.

Workshop 2: “Environmental Policy and Advocacy”

Objective: To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of environmental policy-making and advocacy strategies.

Activities:

  • Policy Workshop: Provide an overview of the policy-making process, including how policies are created, implemented, and evaluated. Discuss key environmental policies at local, national, and international levels.
  • Advocacy Campaign Simulation: Assign participants to groups and have them develop and present advocacy campaigns for a specific environmental issue. Emphasize effective messaging and stakeholder engagement.

Activities:

  • Innovation Challenge: Encourage participants to brainstorm and present their own innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Provide a platform for creative thinking and collaboration.
  • Entrepreneurship in Sustainability: Invite successful entrepreneurs in the sustainability sector to share their experiences in starting and growing environmentally-focused businesses.
  • Site Visits: Organize visits to local businesses or organizations that are implementing innovative sustainability practices. Provide opportunities for hands-on learning and networking.

Design Thinking Workshop: Engage participants in a design thinking exercise focused on solving a specific environmental problem. Encourage them to think creatively and collaboratively.
